Jasmine Ng Kin Kia

Armed with an "A"-Level certificate in Theatre and Drama in one hand and a Super-8 camera and a Singapore government scholarship in the other, media arts professional Jasmine Ng pursued Film and Television in New York City at Tisch School of the Arts, New York University.

 

Her portfolio ranges from directing, executive-producing and editing TV commercials and documentaries, to award-winning short films such as Moveable Feast (screened at various international film festivals/Museum of Modern Art New York), as well as co-directing the Singapore feature film, Eating Air (VPRO Young Tigers New Talent selection at Rotterdam International Film Festival; SFC Young Cinema prize at the Singapore International Film Festival; the FIPRESCI Special Jury Mention at the Stockholm International Film Festival).

 

Among Jasmine’s various collaborations with Discovery Channel is the award-winning documentary anthology, Afterlife. Featuring stories about the ways we deal with our dead in Asia, it’s made its mark among the highest-rating programs commissioned by Discovery Networks Asia.

 

As creative director, Jasmine has been working in partnership with Discovery Networks Asia, in supervising the Discovery Channel China 2007 First-time Filmmaker series for the 3rd time.

 

Pink Paddlers is Jasmine’s most recent documentary work, and she continues to balance and expand her portfolio with the storytelling art of both the 30-second television commercial and the hour-30 minute feature.
